Rockin' Roots Events is an independent promoter of blues and rock in Kent, bringing live music in Kent to rooms where it actually matters. We work with world-class national and international touring artists.
From the Old Brewery Store in Faversham to The Oast in Rainham, Olby's Soul Café in Margate, The Centre in Birchington and Bromley Little Theatre in South East London, every venue is chosen because the room fits the music and the audience leaves with something real. Proper stages, proper sound — all within easy reach of Sittingbourne, Whitstable, Canterbury, Margate and Gillingham.
Faversham, Medway and Thanet have a long-standing appetite for blues in Kent, and our job is to give that audience a proper room and a bill worth turning out for. Whether it is a Delta slide player alone on stage or a full electric band from Texas or Toronto, the standard is the same.
Since October 2015 we've promoted over 170 unique acts across Kent and South East London — blues and rock in Kent at its best, with shows that bring American and UK touring artists to rooms most promoters wouldn't dare fill.
Every room has been chosen for the right reasons — the sound, the atmosphere, the fit with the music. From Faversham to Medway, Thanet and Bromley, these are the stages where live blues and rock in Kent actually happens.
Rockin' Roots Events promotes live blues across Kent: the Old Brewery Store in Faversham, The Oast in Rainham, Olby's Soul Café in Margate and The Centre in Birchington, plus Bromley Little Theatre just over the county border. Between them they cover west Kent, Medway, the Thanet coast and South East London.
Every announced date is listed on this page and on our full shows listing. Played shows drop off the list automatically, so what you see is what is still to come.
The Old Brewery Store in Faversham is our flagship — a 250-capacity converted brewery store inside Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewery. The Oast in Rainham gives Medway a proper listening room, with a 90-capacity space downstairs and a 160-capacity top room right beside Rainham station.
On the coast, Olby's Soul Café in Margate and The Centre in Birchington carry the Thanet shows. Bromley Little Theatre hosts Bromley Blues Club, a seated venue run in partnership with Oli Mississippi MacDonald. The full list is on our Kent venues page.
Both, and the ground in between. A season will typically run from Delta and slide guitar through Chicago and Texas electric blues into blues-rock, soul and roots. Some nights are a solo player and an acoustic guitar; others are a full band from Texas or Toronto at volume.
What connects them is not a sub-genre — it is that the artist is worth travelling to see. We book because the music is genuinely good, not because it fits a format.
Every show on this page links to its own page, where you will find the ticket link, doors time, support act and venue detail. Our primary ticket seller is Gigantic Tickets. Popular shows do sell out in advance, and our rooms are small, so booking ahead is sensible rather than turning up on the night.

It varies by room. Bromley Little Theatre is a seated theatre throughout. The Old Brewery Store, The Oast and The Centre are usually standing or mixed, depending on the artist and the expected crowd. Individual show pages say which applies.
Bromley and Penge sit on the historic Kent boundary and have always felt like home turf — Bromley Blues Club at Bromley Little Theatre is a regular fixture, not an exception. Beyond that, now and then a touring routing makes a date further afield worth doing. Kent and Medway remain the core of what we do.
An independent, artist-led promoter run by Mark Matthews, putting on live music in Kent since October 2015 — starting at the Ypres Tavern in Sittingbourne and since then promoting over 170 unique acts across the county and South East London.
